Abstract

Penelitian tentang karakteristik dan kimia endapan mangan pada batugamping di daerah Palludda belum banyak dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis karakteristik fisika dan kimia; serta potensi endapan mangan di daerah Palludda. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode penelitian lapangan yaitu mengambil sampel endapan mangan dan sampel batugamping pada permukaan. Sampel diambil di Salo Mandi, Palludda. Dalam penelitian ini dianalisis karakteristik fisika dan kimia endapan mangan menggunakan mikroskop polarisasi dan XRD. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan karakteristik fisika batugamping yaitu jenis Packstone dan karakteristik kimia endapan mangan terdiri dari komponen senyawa kimia yang dominan dari setiap sampel endapan mangan adalah Iron oxide hydroxide goethite (45,6%), Silicon oxide alpha Quartz (41,6%) dan Goethite (47,3%).

Research on the characteristics and chemistry of manganese deposits in limestones in the Palludda area has not been done much. This study aims to analyze the physical and chemical characteristics; and the potential for manganese deposits in the Palludda area. This research was conducted using field research methods, namely taking samples of manganese deposits and limestone samples on the surface. Samples were taken in Salo Mandi, Palludda. In this study, the physical and chemical characteristics of manganese precipitates were analyzed using a polarizing microscope and XRD. The results of this study indicate the physical characteristics of limestone, namely the Packstone type and the chemical characteristics of manganese deposits consisting of the dominant chemical components of each sample of manganese deposits are Iron oxide hydroxide goethite (45.6%), Silicon oxide alpha Quartz (41.6%) and Goethite ( 47.3%).
